    Michigan State University Extension offers ServSafe, a national certification program for those working in food service.

  • Food Budgeting

    MSU Extension’s programming promotes healthy lifestyles and empowers Michigan residents to take control of their health. Participants learn how to build nutritious diets on a budget, reduce foodborne diseases and become leaders in the food industry.

  • Food Preservation

    Participants will learn how to provide safe, high-quality products using the latest research on food preservation. The food preservation methods covered include freezing, boiling water bath canning, pressure canning and dehydrating.

  • Healthy Relationships

    MSU Extension works to promote healthy relationships between youth, parents, families, caregivers and the community through social, mental, psychological and spiritual aspects of an individual’s life.

  • Physical Activity

    Physical activity through MSU Extension encourages individuals and communities to adopt healthy lifestyle choices. Staff members work with diverse audiences to increase physical activity for people of all ages to lead to an improved diet and well-being.

  • Diabetes

    MSU Extension provides the knowledge and skills needed to improve the health behaviors of those who have diabetes and those who are at risk of developing diabetes as well as their caregivers.

  • Nutrition

    MSU Extension aims to improve the knowledge, skills and behavior of how individuals view nutrition. Through promotion, planning and delivery our staff works with audiences at a local, county and state to make changes to increase nutritional well-being.

  • Chronic Disease

    MSU Extension provides high-quality and affordable education to Michigan residents related to the prevention and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart conditions.

  • Weight Management

    MSU Extension educates residents on how to manage BMI by supplying affordable nutrition education and physical activity. Individuals who adopt positive behavioral changes into their daily habits to manage their weight contribute to an healthier state.

  • Food Policy

    MSU Extension works with partners to identify and sustain emerging and existing local food councils. Food policy councils are innovative collaborations between residents and government that serve residents who have been unrepresented in food decisions.
