Bill has been the U.P. district forester for MSU Extension since 1997. Bill works with private landowners, the forest industry and public agencies to implement forestry education programs across the U.P.

Bill came to the U.P. from the Red Lake Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota where he worked for 7 years. He has degrees in forestry, wildlife management, biology and resource management from the University of Wisconsin, and a master's degree in forestry from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He also has international experience in Germany, Great Britain and southeast Asia.
